DC Alliance student site visit

Last Thursday DC Alliance hosted our second site visit this year with the Data Management students from Curtin University. The tour kicked off in the morning where the students were given a presentation with an overview of the facility and workings of the data centre, before experiencing a tour of the data centre.

I was surprised by how neat the Data Centre looks, almost like an operating theatre (the impression increased by everything being white in colour)
— Anna Mills
I was most surprised by the redundancy plans and also the security implemented in the building, including the restricted access”
— Cheng Kit Ooi

Following the tour of the facility the students enjoyed a barbecue lunch prepared by out Maintenance Engineer, Kai as well as delicious salads from our local faves at Rustico Gourmet Grocer. It was a great opportunity for the staff to interact with our team following the facility.

Aside from a delicious lunch, my favourite part of today was listening to Albert speak and how his explanations drew from multidisciplinary knowledge. Such as information security at a physical layer, data management, marketing, engineering and physics
— Bavanishanthan Sooriyapava

The tour concluded with a quiz on everything covered on the day, including DC Alliance’s ICT load, what the Hypoxic Air Oxygen level is in the data centre and a match between the staff and their role! Congratulations to our winner Cheng Kit Ooi, we hope you enjoy your prize from the DC Alliance team.
