"Breath of the Dragon" – Behind the Scenes

The DC Alliance team threw an epic event, "Breath of the Dragon," at Perth City Farm to ring in the Year of the Dragon. With this awesome venue in the heart of the city, we got to pick our caterers and show off Perth's local industry for an unforgettable culinary experience. It wasn't just a Lunar New Year celebration; it was a chance to spotlight our booming local scene!

This year, we hosted this event with our good friends at the Melville Cockburn Chamber of Commerce (MCCC). Both of us have the same mission to make our local businesses thrive. And we both do so by hosting cool events and activities that help our community grow and prosper! MCCC's President, Gary, also shared a few words during the evening which reiterate this mission.

In the planning stages, we were totally hands-on with planning the menu and even dove into prepping the food ourselves (we skewered the prawns!), making sure every detail was spot-on for our guests. We truly believe in supporting local industry, as uttered in our tagline – "Local data. Local people. Local content." We carefully curated every detail of the event to highlight the excellence and quality of our city's artisans and businesses, celebrating the richness of Perth's community. It was a labor of love that really amped up the satisfaction levels at the event.

The food was amazing! Refreshing salads from Rustico, featuring the freshest local produce from WA were paired with delectable meats expertly curated by local butcher Fussy Meats. Special thanks to our Friends of DC Alliance, Nick (the Chef) and Michael (the helper), for joining us in celebrating the flavors of WA by skillfully preparing these quality ingredients!

What stole the spotlight and left us all buzzing with adrenaline was the Hot Wings Challenge, featuring Andeez Hot Sauce. Participants braved fiery flavors, while spectators cheered on as the competition unfolded. This was hands down the most thrilling event of the evening, bringing everyone at the event together with a mix of camaraderie and culinary bravery.

Adding the perfect finishing touch to the evening was Campus Brewery with their locally produced, flavor-forward craft beers! Their range of beer styles and beer-adjacent fermented beverages, including DCA's very own custom Al brew, brewed right here in Canning Vale, perfectly complemented the delicious food.

The evening concluded with the lively hum of conversations between old friends, newly forged connections and rekindled friendships. The sound of fortified connections filled the venue, warming the hearts of us at DCA who extended our efforts in the pursuit of forming greater connections within our local community.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at our Lunar New Year event, and congratulations to the Hot Wings Challenge winners! We hope to see you at our next event, not too far away!
